Frequently asked

A few common questions.

Which kit should I choose?

If you are evaluating a beverage program — a restaurant, hotel F&B, bar, or hospitality buyer — the Sparkling Tea Tasting Pack (12 bottles, USD 150) is the right starting point. With six bottles of bodhi and three each of Yuzu Sencha and Apple Wakocha, you have enough to brew, share with your chef and sommelier, and pair against actual food. For multi-site rollouts or final-stage decisions across hotel groups, the Pro Set (24 bottles, USD 280) provides the depth required. If your interest is matcha — a matcha bar, a coffee chain adding ceremonial matcha, or a matcha-focused retailer — the Matcha 2026 Tasting Flight (USD 130) covers the complete five-cultivar lineup at evaluation depth, twenty grams of each. For broader Japanese tea programs — tea houses, importers, restaurants extending beyond matcha — the Discovery Set (USD 120) adds gyokuro and single-cultivar sencha including the Triple Platinum-awarded Tsuyuhikari.

What payment methods do you accept?

After we confirm your sample request, we send a secure payment link via Stripe by email. Stripe accepts all major international credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB) and Apple Pay. The price covers the kit and worldwide freight. Import duties, taxes, and customs handling charges in the destination country are the responsibility of the recipient. Bank wire transfer is available on request for buyers who prefer it.

Why is there a sample fee?

The fee covers material cost, packaging, and international shipping. For Sparkling Tea, twelve or twenty-four bottles at evaluation depth represent meaningful product; for matcha and leaf tea, each gram represents a year of careful work by our partner producers. The fee also ensures samples reach buyers who are seriously evaluating a wholesale relationship. It is fully credited toward your first wholesale order at MOQ — one case of Sparkling Tea, or 1 kg+ of matcha, or 1 kg+ of leaf tea — placed within 90 days.

What countries do you ship to?

Worldwide. All four kits ship globally with freight included in the kit price. We dispatch from Yaizu, Shizuoka via Pegasus Global Express (PEN-DHL), with FDA Prior Notice and Japanese export documentation handled by us where applicable. Import duties and customs charges in the destination country are not included. We have shipped to North America, Europe, the UK, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, and other destinations.

How long does shipping take?

Typically 5–10 business days depending on destination. Asia: 3–5 days. North America and Australia: 5–7 days. Europe: 7–10 days. We provide tracking with every shipment.

How are Sparkling Tea bottles shipped safely?

Each 200ml bottle is individually sleeved in protective packaging and seated in a fitted carton — twelve-bottle and twenty-four-bottle (two carton) configurations are designed for international transit. Bottles ship at ambient temperature; the lacto-fermentation is stable and does not require cold-chain. Once received, store upright and refrigerate before serving.

How are matcha and leaf tea samples shipped to preserve freshness?

Each matcha and sencha sample is sealed in nitrogen-flushed aluminum packaging immediately after grinding or finishing. Gyokuro receives equivalent treatment. Once received, store sealed samples in a cool place and consume within four weeks of opening.

What is bodhi, exactly?

bodhi is our flagship sparkling tea — a lacto-fermented beverage built on Bodai-Sancha, leaves from the Bodai district of Fukuroi, Shizuoka. The leaf undergoes lactic fermentation under our patented anaerobic method (JP Patent No. 7085174), yielding gentle effervescence, dry mineral structure, and a finish often compared to dry champagne. It is alcohol-free and contains no added sugar. The Yuzu Sencha and Apple Wakocha expressions extend the line into citrus-pairing and red-wine-pairing territory respectively. See our bodhi and Sparkling Tea pages for the full background.

What is fukamushi-style sencha?

Fukamushi means “deep-steamed.” Where conventional sencha is steamed for 20–40 seconds, fukamushi sencha is steamed for 60–120 seconds. The longer steam softens the leaf cell structure, producing finer particles, a deeper jade liquor, intensified umami, and a much shorter brewing time (30–60 seconds at 70°C). This is the modern Shizuoka standard and reflects a deliberate stylistic choice — not low quality. Both senchas in the Discovery Set are fukamushi-style.

How would you describe the senchas in the Discovery Set?

Our Asatsuyu — from Chiran, Kagoshima — brews to a matcha-like jade liquor, with a broad-bean aroma and dense, rounded umami — often more mellow at the cup than matcha itself, the same cultivation depth in sencha format. Read the full Asatsuyu story → Ikeda-en Tsuyuhikari, our Triple Platinum-awarded sencha from Shizuoka, offers a delicate cherry-leaf aroma with soft, gentle umami — a more refined and aromatic expression. The Tenku Farm sencha completes the flight with a withering-aroma profile in standard (non-fukamushi) processing — a different stylistic register again.

Can I order custom quantities or just one selection?

The four kits above are our standard offerings. For specific custom requests — for instance, a single producer in larger quantity for cupping, or a non-standard combination — please write to us directly via the inquiry form.

What about pesticide and food-safety documentation?

Our Okabe Yabukita selection is also cultivated to meet EU pesticide MRL standards and is available for EU export on request; per-lot testing is conducted on request. For all selections, a Certificate of Analysis (U.S. MRLs) is provided on request, per lot. We are FDA-registered (Food Facility registration details available to qualified buyers) and handle FDA Prior Notice for shipments to the United States.
